Lior Tabansky

Lior Tabansky is a scholar of cyber power at Tel Aviv University’s Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center. Leveraging 15 years of IT-pro work and business experience in formulating cyber strategies, his current research interests are:

1.   National Innovation Systems, defence adaptation and cybersecurity capacity building

2.   Hostile Influence Operations via Social Media: Assessing the recent Western experience with pro-Russian influence.

 

Lior's doctoral dissertation uncovered failed peacetime defence adaptation that exposes developed societies to destructive cyber attacks on strategic homeland targets by foreign states. The dissertation "Explaining National Cyber Insecurity: A New Strategic Defense Adaptation Analytical Framework" (Tel Aviv University, School of Government and Politics, 2018) develops comparative international ‎cybersecurity analysis with Military Innovation theoretical framework. The study includes a comparative analysis of critical infrastructure protection and national cyber strategy of Singapore, Israel and the United States.

 

Lior Tabansky holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Tel Aviv University and authored the Israeli ‎inaugural cybersecurity scholarship while at the Institute for National Security Studies ‎‎(INSS) think-tank in Tel Aviv. ‎

 

Cybersecurity in Israel,” Dr. Tabansky's 2015 book co-authored with Professor Isaac Ben-Israel, is the first comprehensive "insider" account and analysis of Israeli policy and operations.
